TOP 5 NIGERIAN TV SERIES WE WISHED WERE STILL HERE

Here’s the list:

1. Village Headmaster

The late Justus Esiri and Femi Robinson were on hand to deliver quality screen time to the drama series created by the Legendary Olusegun Olusola. Village Headmaster is missed for its intriguing thrills and its occasional switch to comedy to pass strong morals and still entertain viewers. Its screen success made it the longest show on Nigerian screen as it ran successfully for 20 years (1968-1988).

2. Willie

The horror, the fear, the cold excitement, the chills. These are just some of the moments this 90s-series brought, the storyline exposed an antisocial practice that was common in the Nigerian society and brought a realness to it as viewers could relate to its fearful appeal. The series told the story of a young man named Willie who was murdered and used for money rituals by his brother.

3. The New Masquerade

Zebrudaya is the face of one of the most hilarious TV series in African history. The new masquerade series picked on different sociopolitical issues for every episode and left viewers laughing and learning. Ovularia, Jegede Sokoya, Giringori and the forever hungry Nati are some of the casts that brought laughter to our faces. This show is definitely missed.

5. Checkmate

RMD, Bob Manuel and Nobert Young are some of the faces that featured in this Amaka Igwe production. While it focused on several family issues, it focused on a dysfunctional family with a drunk father and an absentee wife and mother. The families on Checkmate all had a story and a lesson to teach after every episode and it was a favorite watch for families back in the day.
