Deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 2015 elections in Kogi State and member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon James Faleke has described as bestial and barbaric Tuesday’s attack on the Kogi State House of Assembly member within the Chambers of the assembly in Lokoja.
According to the lawmaker, the attack on Hon. Friday Sani Makama by hoodlums suspected to be allegedly sponsored by the powers that be in the State in the full glare of scores of policemen who looked the other way while it lasted was another low in the rapidly degenerating security situation of the state.
It was gathered that Makama was thoroughly beaten by the thugs who invaded the Assembly premises to unleash terror.
He had earlier been suspended by his colleagues in the Assembly for being too critical of the state government and the Assembly leadership but went to court and secured judgement ordering his reinstatement.
“Who will save our dear state from being in the news for the wrong reasons everyday. What happened on Tuesday was a show of shame and mad desperation.
“This is a big threat to democracy. It further drives in the fact that indeed nobody is safe in Kogi any longer as the government of the day seems to be giving tacit support to thuggery and lawlessness”, Faleke stated.
Faleke called on the Inspector General of Police to urgently investigate the barbaric act and arrest culprits swiftly.
